Come join us in making science more open and transparent! Are you interested in reproducible code and open science? Then this is the workshop for you!

As part of our NWO-supported project CHECK-NL, we are organising a discipline-specific codechecking workshop for social and behavioural sciences on 28 November 2024!

During this workshop, you will learn how to codecheck, and see how you can reproduce someone else's results from a paper or pre-print using openly available data and code. Curious to know more? PhD candiates at the Erasmus Graduate School for Social Sciences and the Humanities are eligible for 1.5 ECTS credit for participating in the workshop, see this page for more information. We are happy to provide participants of other institutions a certificate of attendance.

The day-long workshop will take place in-person at the Polak building in Erasmus University Rotterdam (the session begins at 9.30am in Polak 3-09). Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Participants need only bring their laptops.

Tentative Agenda:

09:30-10:00: Welcome and coffee

10:00-10.45: Introduction to codecheck and program of the day

10:45 –11.30: Live CODECHECK demo + Q&A

11:30 - 12:00: form groups and pick a project to work on

12:00–13:15: Lunch

13:15–15:30: Codechecking in breakout groups (with breaks)

15:30-16:30: Reflection and wrap-up

Register now and save the date! The workshop will take place over two sessions, in the morning and afternoon. The first half of the day will feature an introduction to codechecking and a live demo codecheck from our team. After lunch, you will have the opportunity to try out the codechecking process yourself, with help from our expert codecheckers. We will wrap up the day with a short reflection session.
